Cast-IT 2000
Epoxy
| An advanced epoxy casting system that has been used to
build more than 20,000 injection molds in Japan, was recently introduced
by Vantico in the U.S. The epoxy is supplied as a two-component package
containing a pre-blended high ratio of aluminum, eliminating the need to
incorporate additional dry metallic fillers and ensuring full aluminum
dispersal.
Once mixed, the epoxy features good fluidity that provides for easy
pouring over the master model. After postcuring, the dimensionally
stable molds offer an ideal combination of high strength, high glass
transition temperature, and good thermal characteristics to withstand
exposure to typical injection molding pressures and temperatures.
Cast-IT 2000 epoxy also exhibits good chemical resistance and produces a
high-quality surface that can be polished to achieve a metal-like
finish.
